Who can apply
- Annual turnover up to ₹1.5 crore (threshold raised from ₹12 lakh with effect from 1 April 2026; State licence applies from ₹1.5–50 crore, Central licence above ₹50 crore)
- No activity that forces a higher licence regardless of turnover: import/export, e-commerce food sales, supplying central government, catering, or production beyond capacity limits (e.g. >100 kg/day) require a State or Central licence even at low turnover
- Street food vendors registered with a Municipal Corporation or Town Vending Committee under the Street Vendors Act, 2014 are DEEMED registered under FSSAI — you may not need this procedure at all

Do I still need to renew my FSSAI registration?
No. From 1 April 2026 registrations and licences have perpetual validity. But you must pay the annual fee and file the annual Food Safety Compliance Report — missing either suspends the registration automatically.
My turnover is ₹40 lakh — Basic Registration or State Licence?
Basic Registration, as long as no activity trigger applies. The threshold moved from ₹12 lakh to ₹1.5 crore on 1 April 2026 — guides quoting ₹12 lakh are outdated.
