To drive a taxi, cab or any passenger/goods vehicle for hire you need your driving licence authorised for TRANSPORT vehicles — an ordinary private (LMV) licence is not enough. You add the transport class through AEDL (Additional Endorsement of Driving Licence) on Sarathi. It needs a Form 5 driving certificate from a licensed school, a Form 1A medical certificate, and usually a driving test at the RTO. A transport licence carries a shorter (3-year) validity than a private one.
