Every transport (commercial) vehicle must hold a valid Certificate of Fitness proving it is roadworthy — a private car doesn't, but a truck, tempo, taxi or bus does. You apply on Vahan and present the vehicle for inspection at the RTO or an Automated Testing Station. A new transport vehicle's fitness is typically valid two years; after that it is renewed (commonly yearly). Insurance, PUC and road tax must be current at inspection.
