Changing the address on your Aadhaar after you move. It can be done online from the myAadhaar portal if your mobile number is linked, it costs ₹75, and it is the first thing to do after a move — because almost every other address change you are about to make is checked against it.

Who can apply

  • For the online route your mobile number must be registered with your Aadhaar — the OTP goes there. If it is not linked, you cannot use myAadhaar and must visit a centre.
  • You need a valid proof of address from UIDAI's published list of supporting documents
  • UIDAI permits relationship-based (Head of Family) address updates, which is the route where the address proof is not in your own name
